Can't beat the price of the"full size" G3. Moreover, it is favorably reviewed by a number of renowned i-net "stars." Accordingly, with R-USA's 10% discount, I could not longer take a pass . . . . Two Taurus revolvers, I've a PT92, and just traded (aka, got ripped off) the venerable PT111 Millennium. (A move I now regret.) MY TX22 is ammo picky. The PT111 is, IMO, the model for both the G2 and G3. After owning it for nearly a decade, and it's sterling (range) performance, I figured any Taurus that is based on and "improved" upon the PT111 platform must be very good semi-auto.
Well, after cleaning and lubing the G3 at the range, minutes after it was (finally) released to me, yesterday, I fired 50 rounds of Troy 9mm 124 gr through it. At least 1/2 of those rounds resulted in stovepipes, FTFs, double feeds and FTEs!!
Within the main store a R-USA employee asked for my impressions of the G3. His reply to my disappointment was laconic: "I told you not to by a Taurus." At that time I thought, maybe I should have listened.
An i-net shooter noted that after cleaning the G3, he loaded the mags, full, and let them sit overnight. Afterwards, at the range he was impressed. Last night I did the same, but loaded one mag with white box 115 gr and the other with the previously mentioned Troy. Today the G3 worked flawlessly, digesting and spitting out nearly 100 rounds of Troy. Even my Girl was impressed, and she does not like the initial long trigger take-up. But once she worked the very short reset, all was well. So now, I'm about giddy. Hopefully, G3 continues to shine, and that sentiment last.
BTW, the 124 gr Troy "caused" hiccups in my Canik PT9 Elite. However, the Springfield XDm chewed it up and spat 'em out without a burp.
So far, I rate it a three - after about 165 rounds. There is room for movement on that score + & -.
Peace
