OK. It's a stainless 10/22. If you haven't owned a decent 10/22, ask someone who does what that might entail. For me, it means that shoots consistently, the aftermarket is phenomenal, the model has a good track record and it's a great starter for young shooters. The stock however, bears some discussion. Every manufacturer has a 'good', 'better' and 'best' category. ATI (the maker of the stock) has created a 'good' stock. Not bad, but not great either. There is potential though if you are willing... The good: This one seems sturdy in several areas, less so in others. The stock swivel feels heavy duty and has no wobble or rattle to it (yet) and does a good job of making the rifle more portable. The stock mates to the receiver well and is easily removed for cleaning or altering. The well-planned attachment options included allow for a myriad of setups surely to appease all but the most OCD of us. The handle is comfortable, although the rubber palm swell feels like it might come off eventually in my hands. The metal scope mount is Weaver style, make sure you have a compatible optic base. The biggest disappointment is that my example must have missed the final step of finishing QC. Almost every seam had a large and sharp amount of casting flash. These are the sharp edges created when the plastic is removed from the mold at the factory. Anyone who plans to spend time with this firearm, will want to devote some time cleaning off the flash. It was everywhere, including all contact points (handle, trigger area, fore end, magazine well and even in the cheek weld area of the stock). I could see some serious blisters or cuts happening by the end of a day in the field. The magazine well: In addition to being perilously thin, the plastic around the magazine well is sharp enough to remove a few layers of skin. In all fairness, it's still a good buy. Check out your example before you take it home to make sure you can live with the stock. Get a couple extra mags and have fun! It is still a STRONG RECOMMEND in my book, it's just not worthy of 5-stars.
