Picked up my M2.0 10mm yesterday and immediately went into range and got going with it. I was blown away by how smooth this gun shot! I knew that recoil would be different from my Shield Plus. It was great!! Because of the size of the gun, a 4.6inch barrel, the recoil was minimal. I was even more excited about how the gun handled it while shooting. I told my daughter that it felt like butter. So smooth. I would highly recommend this gun to anyone thinking about getting a 10mm gun. Love the amorite finish looks great and the grip are really good to keep in place in your hand. Different back straps let's you customize your grip to fit your hand. Can't say enough about this gun, just great!!
I just put the first 50 rounds through my new M&P 2.0 10mm 4.6" barrel. I did get the version with the safety as it was the only one available.
I purchased this primarily for grizzly / brown bear protection, and I plan to use Underwood Xtreme Penetrator or Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman outside the range.
The choice was down to this and a Glock G20 10mm, and although I respect the dependiblility of Glock, I chose the M&P for these reasons:
ergonomics: The M&P ergonomics is in my opinion, superior. It just feels better in my hand. The gun comes with an adjustable grip that should satisfy all hand sizes.
grip: The Glock felt "slipperier" than the M&P. I REALLY like the "sharkskin" grip of the M&P - however, some might feel it is too aggressive. But really, moving up from a 9mm, the extra grip helps with the increased recoil.
slide grip: The M&P's fish-scale engraving on the slide provides excellent grip.
aesthetics: I prefer the looks of the M&P. I actually like and appreciate the "utilitarian" look of the Glock, however, I do prefer the more modern, high-tech look of the M&P. It looks like a more expensive gun.
This pistol is a little, but noticeably heavier and thicker than my other pistols (S&W SD9 VE, Canik TP9SF, both 9mm) as expected. However, the recoil was surprisingly manageable; using Magtech 150 gr. range ammo. The trigger is about 5-5.5 lbs., which is perfect for me, with average travel. I do think the M&P has less tactile / audible reset than the Glock, but it not a big concern.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with the quality, design, ergonomics, and accuracy of my M&P 2.0 10mm. I expect even better results as I put rounds through it during the break-in period.
I've not had a chance to shoot this pistol yet, but it seems very well built. The controls are easily selectable and it's easy to field strip, (which I do with all new guns before firing them). I've even fitted a red dot sight to it, which was very easy using included mounting plate.
I have several Smith & Wesson firearms including a Model 5906 9mm pistol and a Model 586 .357 Magnum Revolver, both of which I've had for many years. The new M&P 2.0 10mm seems equally well made.
S&W is coming out with some excellent hand guns. This new 10mm is fantastic right out of the box. I love the 18 degree grip angle. Just like the 1911s. The flat faced trigger is crisp. This gun is so much fun to shoot. The grip texture is gust right. The price is right. I just can’t say enough about this new 10mm. It is just super great.
