The Model 27 from Smith and Wesson is the original revolver to handle the powerful .357 magnum that was developed somewhere in the mid 1930s. This revolver is designed to handle heavy .357 magnum rounds with ease with its large N Frame making shooting pleasant, especially when firing .38 specials.
As for my experience with this revolver, the gun fires wonderfully! Great trigger, excellent finish, pleasant grips, and overall nostalgic to fire. There is but one fault that I have with this revolver, that many who have purchased this revolver have found out as well. That is the screw above the forcing cone tends to be too short causing a small blast mark to hit the cylinder of the revolver. To remove these blast marks it's very tricky and rubbing those marks to much can wear down the bluing. Luckily, I messaged Smith and Wesson about my issue, and they sent me a replacement screw which is longer and fits flushed against the top strap. With the screw in place, blast marks will not occur no further.
So in conclusion, this gun is beautifully made and fires great! Except before firing it after purchasing, check that the screw above the forcing cone sits flushed or else you will damage your cylinder. I'm disappointed at Smith and Wesson for their quality check, but nonetheless, I'm happy that they responded to my complaint, and didn't hesitate to send me a replacement screw free of charge and shipping.
