Fwank
reticle lines too thin

I know it's out of production, but I got a used one on eBay, and for all I know someone might be considering one and looking for information on the Internet.

The good:  glass quality seems decent.

Good diopter adjustment range.

True 1x or close to it, with only the tiniest bit of blurring and distortion at the edges of the field of view.

Adjustments are decently tactile and so far seem to track correctly.

The bad:  Eyebox isn't great, even at 1x.

Field of view at maximum magnification is only about 50 mrad, where 60-70 is the norm for a 1-6x LPVO at 6x.

Mrad reticle plus MOA adjustments = what on Earth were they thinking?

Reticle does NOT look like the picture on the box.  If it were a mil-hash duplex with thick lines at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00 going from 5 mrad from center to the edge of the field of view, I'd have been a lot more enthusiastic.

Reticle is very good at 6x, though if you intend to use the reticle to measure objects to estimate range, you should probably know that 6x magnification is the absolute minimum to use a mil-hash or mil-dot reticle this way, and is really marginal.  It doesn't become really usable, in the sense of trying to use it as a stadia rangefinder, looking through it a 1.8 meter tall object and estimating whether it's 2.0 mrad tall or 2.1 mrad tall, like the training manuals tell you to do, without at least 10x magnification. 20-24x is a better starting point if you are trying to get out past 600m and get a good enough range estimate to put metal on target.  If you're nineteen years old with perfect vision and the unshakable belief that human limitations do not apply to you, feel free to disregard this.

The lines making up the reticle are too thin for use at 1x for CQB. At 1x the lines are so razor thin that it's basically invisible unless lighting conditions and the background are perfect.  The illumination doesn't help much.  Below about 2 1/2x magnification I can barely see the reticle at all.  This defeats the purpose of an LPVO.

Illumination can be set to red or green, but is as weak as a newborn kitten in both colors.  It isn't daylight bright.  In bright sunlight it's not even daylight noticeable.  Yes, you can stack a pair of CR2016 batteries and feed it six volts instead of three.  Yes, it works with double the design voltage.  Does it get any brighter?  No.  Maybe if you never shoot anywhere but a dimly lit indoor range it'll be usable-ish.  For anything more serious than plinking, absolutely not.

Illumination looks uniform at 6x, but at 1x it is obviously blotchy and some parts of the reticle are more visible than others.

I will put it on a .22 and consider it a lesson learned.
