Ruger American Rifle Hunter 308 Win 5rd Gray

I purchased this rifle to get more into long-range shooting, I have a Ruger MPR that I love but have always wanted a bolt action, and when I saw this Ruger, I waited months for it to become available. 

The shipping process got a bit messy, but thanks to Troy over at corporate, he fixed it, and then I got the 308 in my hands. I have only shot her at the range twice, but I plan on going to the outdoor content in Wisconsin this week. 

I paired her with a Sig Whisky scope and couldn't be happier! This is the rifle for you if you want a well-made, reasonably cheap bolt action! 

I bought this rifle for a project gun. Not that it is great right out of the box for the price. Ruger make a solid rifle. But to keep the cost down there machining is a little rough with very tight tolerance’s. So it’s definitely a gun you will need to break in. I sped up the process by very lightly sanding the bolt with emery cloth and VERY fine sand paper and cycled the bolt for 15 minutes a day for a week. The bolt is now smooth as glass, just like you would find in a much more expensive rifle. The trigger is crisp at around 3 and a half pounds. The Magpul stock is outstanding and free floats the heavy hammer forged bull barrel with a pretty good muzzle break on the end.
Once I drop in a New trigger and extended bolt lever and knob this gun will shoot a flea’s balls off at a 100 yards.
