Savage Arms Axis bolt-action centerfire rifle blends unflinching performance and impressive accuracy. It sports a modern design that features sleek contours, recoil pad vents and a textured, easy-to-control grip. The Axis also features a carbon-steel barrel, a black synthetic stock, a drilled and tapped receiver, and offers silky-smooth bolt operation.

This XP Compact model has a matte black synthetic stock with a 12.5" LOP, and a 20" blued carbon steel barrel. It comes with a 3-9x40mm Weaver scope, already bore-sighted.

Worth Consideration

The Axis XP is a pretty “OK” rifle, and fairly consistent. The blued parts, especially the barrel may pick up rust easily, so keep it clean and oiled. Overall the value is excellent, considering the price-point. One Note: the 7mm-08 is an excellent traditional caliber for North American game out to 350+ yards that deserves more respect than it receives. Sight-in at 200 yards seems best for quick hunting shots, without requiring a lot of focus on your “ballistic dope”. Ammo can be difficult to find, so when you find it, buy it all. You will likely enjoy knocking the “c— —p” out of pigs, deer and coyotes…. if you live anywhere near Texas….
