I stumbled across Wilson Combat lube years ago, and have found nothing better for lubricant on a firearm (and other stuff). It requires very little amount, it spreads like a thin film, it seems to repel carbine buildup, it does not run, or drip, and it takes something like Hope's #9 to remove it (it stays put). Like only a drop or two will coat the entire outside of say a 1911 barrel, for keeping the barrel and bushing lubricated. A drop on each of the slide rails, spread with a toothbrush, really smooths out slide functions. Spread a film on magazine springs for better function. I learned that in a complete disassembly of an AR bolt, putting a film of Wilson Combat lube (grease for AR's) on every part, bolt body, extractor and spring, ejector and spring, and including the Bolt Carrier, that carbon just wipes off with Hope's #9, and the BCG just runs smooth, and tends to eliminate action malfunctions, as it just runs smoother. Putting just a drop on any sear, seems to really smooth out any trigger I have put it on. Coating the bolt in a bolt action. I have even used it on the threads of a sight pusher, for easy smooth operation. Well worth the price, and a great lube. When I first found it, It was "lube" for handguns, and "grease" (just a thicker lube, not really a grease) for rifles, especially AR's, but looks like they have now combined it into one lube for all in the Ultra. If I ever run out, I am buying more.
