YES! I am one of the Texas qualified License To Carrty (LTC) instructors employed by RANGE USA at the Cypress, TX! Yes, I am a very biased Pro-Range USA non-employee paid member for many years BEFORE I became an employee! I have previously as a non-employee vert positvely reviewed the Cypress Range USA! I write this to clarify what happens too frequently in the LTC classes that I teach at Range USA. There are TWO tests that you Texas has designed and uses to approve applicants for the LTC. The requirements to pass these two tests are established by the state of Texas. In that sense I am an "agent" of Texas who took three days to train me and approve me as qualified to teach and administer these two tests. In my experience almost everyone (99.9%) of people pass the written test if they simply stay awake and learn what Texas requires me to teach previous to the administration of this test! However, about 10% +/- of the people who show up for the 6 hour long in person LTC classes that I teach FAIL the Texas designed shooting proficiency class either for violations of safe handling rules and/or for their inability to pass the relatively easy shooting proficiency class. Texas requires that you ALONE without help from me or anybody else present during the test SAFELY handle your pistol AND score the required 70% of points required by Texas on the Texas -approved target in order. An attempt on our web site explaining these requirements is either ignored or misread by most of these LTC testees who fail the Shooting Proficiency. Some have never even held a pistol. Some show up with a brand new pistol still in the original box and plastic having never actually shot it or one similar to it. Some obviously (by their failure to put holes in the target to gain enough passing points) have simply not practiced enough with help to accomplish the very low threshold that Texas demands for them to receive the Texas LTC. Please do NOT go anywhere either on line or in class to obtain your LTC without FIRST getting proficient enough -- a very low standard of proficiency -- to pass the Shooting Proficiency Test required by the state of Texas! Thank you! I hate it when I am forced to disqualify people on the Shooting Proficiency!
